Mon scanner est un Canoscan 900F Mk II, et les résultats avec
gscan2pdf sont tres correctes.
J'ai dit "sane" parce que je croyais c'était le programme pour
scanner dans Ubuntu mais c'est peut-être "xsane", je ne sais pas.
Est-ce possible de faire une commande dans Terminal pour réinstaller
pardessus ce que j'ai qui a des problèmes un programme
"saine/xsane". Le technicien a PDF Studio m'a dit que son programme
utilise saine. Il m'a parlé de "sane drivers".

Sane est bien le programme qui gère les scanners.
Xsane est une interface graphique hautement paramétrable pour sane.

Ici, on vois que sane est censé fournir une interface graphique, mais je
n'en ai trouvé aucune dans les menus. Je n'ai pas trouvé non plus de
commande permettant l'en lancer une.
En revanche, il existe des interfaces intégrées à certains bureaux mais
souvent moins complètes. Cependant, le choix peut se faire selon les
besoins de chacun.
Pour en revenir à tes questions, je ne vois pas de quoi le technicien
t'a parlé. Voilà tout ce que j'ai trouvé :

printer-driver-all-enforce - méta-paquet des pilotes d'imprimante -

Rien à voir avec Sane.
=> Pas de pilote à installer.
Conclusion :
La réponse est manifestement plutôt dans le paramétrage de sane.
Fais un
apt install xsane
puis lance xsane (depuis le menu Infographie si tu utilise un menu
classique ou depuis son icône dans le menu gnome-shell).
Vois tous les paramètres disponibles, tu aura sûrement ce que tu cherches.
